Amana Nova

Amana is a local warm glass artist that uses many different techniques to create her works of art. As a life long artist, she has worked with many different mediums but loves the process of creating with glass best. As she puts it, “Hot glass is an ancient art form that utilizes light, color, alchemy and science to create beauty. I’m always amazed at the magic of the process!”

It takes several separate kiln firings at temperatures from 1200-1500 degrees to create a single piece of art glass. Once the piece has met it’s desired melting temperature it is very slowly “annealed” over approximately 24 hours in order to cool the piece and relieve internal stress in the glass. Art glass typically takes from 2 to 5 days to create, depending on how many times it must be re-introduced into the kiln.
